Lafayette Parish School System Community Eligibility Provision Program 2018-2019 School Year

As an alternative to the Traditional Meal Benefit Application Program that qualifies the individual student to receive free or reduced price meals, school districts across the nation that participate in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs now have another Meal Benefit option to offer students. The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) Program, introduced by USDA as a result of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, provides free Breakfast and Lunch meals to students attending schools that qualify for the program. Based on certain economic data, 35 LPSS schools currently qualify for the CEP Meal Benefit since first implemented in 2014:

Other students that attend LPSS schools not listed above may apply for a Traditional Meal Benefit available in either the electronic or paper format. The electronic application can be accessed online at www.MySchoolApps.com/Application.

Community Eligibility Provision, effective since July 1, 2014, has shown the most success and improvement in the areas of student meal participation and classroom readiness, while giving financial support to parents.
