Lafayette Parish School System superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard has appointed Catherine Guillory as principal of Alice Boucher Elementary School and Cherie Fontenot as principal of J. W. Faulk Elementary School.
Catherine Guillory earned a Bachelor of General Studies from U.L. Lafayette and two Master of Education Degrees from Northwestern State University. She is certified as a Reading Specialist and School Librarian. Ms. Guillory began her teaching career at St. Michael’s Elementary School in Crowley. In Lafayette Parish, she taught English Language Arts at L. J. Alleman Middle School for six years before being promoted to Instructional Strategist where she served for five years. She is currently serving as an Assistant Principal at Judice Middle School.
Mrs. Cheri Fontenot earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from U. L. Lafayette and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. Mrs. Fontenot served as a middle school teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School and Director of Education at Our Lady Queen of All Saints Catholic Church. She also served as an elementary teacher for four years at James Stephens Montessori School in Ville Platte and five years as Principal of James Stephens Montessori School. James Stephens is a high poverty, high performing school and was one of two “A” schools in Evangeline Parish during her tenure as principal. She joined the LPPS team in 2016 when she was chosen to be the principal of Green T. Lindon Elementary School. This is her second year leading the Green T. Lindon team. In addition to her service, Mrs. Fontenot is a National Board Certified teacher and has earned an International Montessori Teaching certificate. She has earned many awards including Teacher of the Year at James Stephens Montessori School and the Outstanding Community Contribution Award by the Ville Platte Mayor. Her school was labeled a Top Gains School in 2012 and in 2014 by the Louisiana Department of Education. Her highest professional accomplishment was being awarded Louisiana Elementary Principal of the Year in 2016.
