Lafayette Parish Public Schools Calendar Adjustments

Due to weather associated with Hurricane Harvey, winter storms, and extremely cold weather events, schools in the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) were closed for seven instructional days during the current 2017 - 2018 School Year. The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education’s policy states that schools must provide a minimum of 63,720 instructional minutes per school year. Most schools in the Lafayette Parish School System have enough instructional minutes to meet the State’s requirement despite the closures due to inclement weather.

Unless schools are closed for other unforeseen events, no Lafayette Parish school will be required to make up days during the Mardi Gras or Easter Holidays. However, students attending David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy will now have a regular day of school on January 24, 2018 and February 21, 2018. These days had originally been intended for teacher in-services. Additionally, beginning on Monday, January 29, 2018, students attending N.P. Moss Preparatory Academy will add an additional 25 minutes per day for the remainder of the school year.

The district’s grading periods, progress reports, and report cards dates will be adjusted to account for the days of school missed.

Third Nine Weeks: January 9 – March 16
Progress Reports: February 15
Report Cards: March 23

Fourth Nine Weeks: March 19 – May 22
Progress Reports: April 24
Report Card day – May 23
