The Lafayette High School Marching Band placed 1st overall in the USBands Southwestern Championship in Arlington, Texas, last Saturday. In addition to their overall 1st place victory, the band also received the following caption awards: Best Overall Guard, Best Overall Visual, Best Overall Effect, and Best Percussion in Large Class. The band competed against 25 marching bands from Texas and was the only non-Texas band to participate in the competition. Congratulations to the students and the Director of Bands, Scotty Walker!
