On Friday, October 6, four Lafayette Parish schools will observe the funeral procession for Corporal Michael Middlebrook. Several area businesses have donated American flags for students to waive in solidarity. These schools are along the direct path of the procession, beginning with Plantation Elementary at approximately 1:30 pm, Lafayette Middle and Myrtle Place Elementary at approximately 2 pm, ending with Early College Academy SLCC campus at approximately 2:30 pm.

The Lafayette Parish School System would like to sincerely thank the following local businesses for supporting our students and staff with American flag donations:

  • Home Depot, Ambassador Caffery Parkway
  • Home Depot, Broussard
  • Home Depot, Evangeline Thruway
  • Walmart, Pinhook

  • Walmart, Opelousas
  • Albertsons on Ambassador and Kaliste Saloom

LPSS will also offer a voluntary jean day fundraising opportunity for students, faculty, and staff on Wednesday, October 11, and monies raised will be donated to the family of Corporal Middlebrook. All students and staff can make a donation of $1 in exchange for the opportunity to wear jeans and/or a blue shirt on that day. Proceeds will be sent to the Community Foundation of Acadiana on behalf of the family of Corporal Michael Middlebrook.
