The Lafayette Parish School System offers Public School Choice for academic year 2017-18 to the parents of K-12 students zoned for and enrolled in
- Alice Boucher Elementary School
- Carencro Heights Elementary School
- J.W. Faulk Elementary School
- Lafayette Middle School
The application will be available from noon on June 7, 2017, until midnight on July 23, 2017. Because these schools received a letter grade of “D” in the 2016 state accountability release, the district must provide the opportunity for students to move to an “A,” “B,” or “C”-rated school. Carencro High School and Northside High School both received a “D,” but there are no eligible transfer options available.
Applying for a School Choice transfer does not obligate the parent or guardian to move the student, but does put the district on notice that the parent wants the opportunity to transfer the student. The “A,” “B,” and “C”-rated schools designated to receive School Choice transfers will be determined later in the summer.
If spring 2017 LEAP Assessment results indicate any of these 4 schools will earn a grade of “C” or higher, no Public School Choice transfers will be allowed from the specific school or schools. Parents of students registered at one of the above schools may complete an application. Families who are new residents in the attendance zones of these schools or who reside in one of the zones and plan to transfer into the public school system may complete an application and indicate their situation in the “Additional Information” section. Applications will not be considered until the students are enrolled in one of the 4 schools.
