Lafayette Parish School System 2017 Commencement Ceremonies

On May 20, 2017, the Lafayette Parish School System held graduation ceremonies for its five traditional high schools at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Also, ceremonies for the Early College Academy were held on May 11th, and for David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy on May 19th. This year a total of 1,805 students graduated from LPSS. 1,344 of those were Core 4 graduates, 311 were Basic Core graduates, 82 graduated with a Career Diploma, 40 graduated from the Lafayette Online Academy, 17 earned a TOPS University diploma, 50 earned Jump Start diplomas, and 38 earned a High School Equivalency Diploma. LPSS students were offered a total of $28,210,467 in scholarships. We wish to celebrate the accomplishments of all Lafayette Parish School System graduates as they enter the work force, join the armed forces, or begin post-secondary academic careers. We also wish to commend the faculty, staff, and administration of our high schools for providing such a rich variety of academic experiences and opportunities for Lafayette Parish students.

Acadiana High School

Acadiana High’s 391 graduates were offered $3,874,062 in scholarships. 240 students graduated with a Core 4 diploma, 108 graduated with the Basic Core diploma, 6 earned a Career Diploma, 1 earned a TOPS University Diploma, 20 earned Jump Start diplomas, and 15 earned High School Equivalency Diploma.

Carencro High School

Carencro High School students were offered $3,489,252 in scholarships. 140 of Carencro’s 204 graduates earned a Core 4 diploma. 49 earned a Basic Core diploma, 3 earned a Career Diploma, 5 earned a TOPS University diploma, 2 earned JumpStart diplomas, and 5 earned High School Equivalency Diplomas.

Early College Academy

ECAs 54 graduates were offered $4,036,319 in scholarships. 52 students earned Core 4 diplomas, and 2 earned TOPS University diplomas.

Lafayette High School

Lafayette High’s 513 graduates were offered $10,988,083 in scholarships. 444 students earned a Core 4 diploma, 49 earned a Basic Core diploma, 14 earned Career diplomas, 2 earned a Jump Start diploma, and 3 earned High School Equivalency diplomas.

Northside High School

Northside’s 128 graduates earned $1,607,087 in scholarships. 79 students graduated with a Core 4 diploma, 16 earned a Basic Core diploma, and 12 earned a Career Diploma, 7 earned a TOPS University diploma, 8 earned Jump Start diplomas, and 6 students earned High School Equivalency Diplomas.

Comeaux High School

Comeaux High’s 495 graduates earned $3,375,362 in scholarships. 332 graduated with Core 4 diplomas, 88 with Basic Core diplomas, 47 with Career Diplomas, 2 earned a Tops University diploma, 18 earned Jump Start diplomas, and 8 with High School Equivalency Diplomas.

David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy

57 of the 58 David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy graduates earned Core 4 diplomas. 1 earned Basic Core diploma. David Thibodaux graduates were offered $840,302 in scholarships.
