Kimberlyn Slagle is a National Board Certified teacher with fifteen years of classroom teaching experience who currently serves as the English Department Head at David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy. In her years as a teacher, she has served as a mentor teacher and Coordinator for Literacy and Assessment in Hillsborough County, Florida; a cooperating teacher for both University of South Florida and University of Louisiana, Lafayette interns; a member of the National Writing Project; and a district teacher for Lafayette Parish supporting teacher implementation of the College Board's SpringBoard curriculum in middle and high school English classes.
Last year, she was honored as a SpringBoard Teacher of Distinction, awarded to teachers who demonstrate excellence and innovation in instruction. This year, she has been named a member of the SpringBoard National Faculty, becoming the first and only SpringBoard national trainer from the state of Louisiana. Kimberlyn was one of 12 candidates nationwide to be selected from over 100 highly qualified applicants. As one of 75 National Faculty members in the nation, Kimberlyn will facilitate SpringBoard Professional Learning events during the summer. The SpringBoard National Faculty serves teachers in 49 states and over 1,000 school districts.
