City of Duson Adopts a Resolution to Support the LPSS Sales Tax Proposition

At its meeting on March 21, 2017, the Duson City Council unanimously adopted a resolution to support the Lafayette Parish School System’s bid to the voters for a dedicated, fixed-term, 1⁄2 cent sales tax to replace 248 portable temporary buildings currently used as classrooms. The tax is proposed for 10 years.

Chief of police Kip Judice spoke in favor of the proposition. Board members Mary Morrison, Erik Knezek, and Jeremy Hildalgo also addressed the council to discuss the tax proposition. Chief Operations Officer Joe Craig was present to answer any questions from the council or the public. Duson Mayor Johnny Thibodaux said, “The Town of Duson councilmembers overwhelmingly agreed to support the 1⁄2 cent School Board sales tax that is being proposed on the April ballot.”
