Lafayette Parish School System 2016 Commencement Ceremonies

On May 23, 2016, the Lafayette Parish School System held graduation ceremonies for its five traditional high schools at the Cajundome in Lafayette. Also, ceremonies for the Early College Academy were held on May 12th, and for David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy on May 20th. This year a total of 1,799 students graduated from LPSS. 1,356 of those were Core 4 graduates, 339 were Basic Core graduates, 46 graduated with a Career Diploma, and 58 earned a High School Equivalency Diploma.  LPSS students were offered a total of $30,301,697 in scholarships.  We wish to celebrate the accomplishments of all Lafayette Parish School System graduates as they enter the work force, join the armed forces, or begin post-secondary academic careers. We also wish to commend the faculty, staff, and administration of our high schools for providing such a rich variety of academic experiences and opportunities for Lafayette Parish students.

Acadiana High School

Acadiana High’s 337 graduates were offered $3,085,798 in scholarships. 227 students graduated with a Core 4 diploma, 94 graduated with the Basic Core diploma, and 16 earned a High School Equivalency Diploma.

Carencro High School

Carencro High School students were offered $3,363,632 in scholarships. 159 of Carencro’s 250 graduates earned a Core 4 diploma. 76 earned a Basic Core diploma, 4 earned a Career Diploma, and 11 earned High School Equivalency Diplomas.

Early College Academy

ECAs 45 graduates were offered $1,074,964 in scholarships. 40 students earned Core 4 diplomas, 2 earned Basic Core, and 3 earned Career diplomas.

Lafayette High School

Lafayette High’s 557 graduates were offered $13,254,534 in scholarships. 489 students earned a Core 4 diploma, 53 earned a Basic Core diploma, 2 earned Career diplomas, and 13 earned High School Equivalency diplomas.

Northside High School

Northside’s 146 graduates earned $1,206,911 in scholarships. 90 students graduated with a Core 4 diploma, 29 earned a Basic Core diploma, and 21 earned a Career Diploma.  6 students earned High School Equivalency Diplomas.

Comeaux High School

Comeaux High’s 408 graduates earned $7,463,553 in scholarships. 307 graduated with Core 4 diplomas, 78 with Basic Core diplomas, 12 with Career Diplomas, and 11 with High School Equivalency Diplomas.

David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy

44 of the 53 David Thibodeaux STEM Magnet Academy graduates earned Core 4 diplomas. 7 earned Basic Core diplomas. 4 earned Career Diplomas, and 1 student earned a High School Equivalency diploma.  David Thibodaux graduates were offered $852,305 in scholarships.
