Comeaux High School Students Earn Top Honors at a National Speech and Debate Tournament

This past weekend, Lafayette Area high school speech and debate teams traveled to Sacramento, California, to compete at the National Catholic Forensic League Grand National Speech Tournament. This tournament brings together 3000 student from over 500 schools from across the Country. 7 students from Comeaux High reached the Elimination Rounds of their events each of which started with 200 student competitors.

Reaching Octo Finals:

Placing 26th in Duo Interpretation--Destiny Darby and Jenna Baird
Placing 25th in Oral Interpretation--Quest Broussard

Reaching Semi Finals:

Placing 10th in Dramatic Performance--Tayland Ratliff

Reaching Finals:

Placing 5th in the nation in Declamation--Paige Allbright
Placing 5th in the nation in Duo Interpretation--Alejandro Perez and Andrea Tena

Comeaux High School also placed in the top 5 out of the over 500 schools in the Overall Speech
Team Sweepstakes. This is Comeaux's 2nd year in a row to place in the top five schools in the nation.

Jacob Simon and Sandra Broussard are Comeaux High School’s speech and debate coaches.
