Lafayette Parish School System Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard issued a statement this morning to address concerns expressed by students and parents at Lafayette High School over the school system’s dress code. The current dress code printed in the LPSS Student Handbook does not reference a length for shorts. In order to address this oversight and to align with the other guidelines governing female apparel, Dr. Aguillard has specified that shorts will be no shorter than 4” above the knee. School administrators will begin following this guideline immediately. All other aspects of the student dress code remain in effect. The online version of the current Student Handbook and all future versions of the print document will reflect this change.
