LPSS Superintendent Makes 5 Additional Appointments to Key Positions in the District

Lafayette Parish Public School System Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard has made appointments to five additional positions: Director of Elementary Schools, Director of Middle and Secondary Schools, District Planning Administrator, Director of Career and Technical Education and Schools of Choice, and Director of Planning and Facilities. Three of the positions, the Directors of Schools and the District Planning Administrator, are new positions tied to the superintendent’s reorganization plan and his efforts to downsize and streamline Central Office operations.  The Director of Planning and Facilities previously existed but was redesigned in the reorganization. The Director of Career and Technical Education and Schools of Choice was a previously existing vacant position.

Karen Williams has been appointed as the District Director of Elementary Education.  Ms. Williams has earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Marketing, a Master’s Degree in Educational Technology, and 30 additional hours of graduate credit in Educational Leadership all from McNeese State University.  She also obtained certification as a Turnaround Specialist from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia.

Ms. Williams has served as a teacher and Assistant Principal in the Calcasieu Parish School District.  She also served as Principal at M. J. Kaufman Elementary School in Lake Charles and was an Academic Field Coordinator for the Louisiana Department of Education Recovery School District.  She held the position of Academic Officer for Lafayette Parish and most recently was in the position of Director of Academics for Lafayette Parish.

Brian Hebert has been appointed as the District Director of Middle and Secondary Schools.  Mr. Hebert earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and two Master’s Degrees in Education from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Mr. Hebert has served as a math teacher, a health and physical education teacher, a coach and Athletic Director for Vermilion Parish.  In Lafayette Parish, he has also served as health and physical education teacher and coach.  In addition, he has served as Assistant Principal for Green T. Lindon Elementary School.  He has held the positions of Technology Technical Assistant, Coordinator of Computer Assisted Instructional Laboratories, Quality Performance Specialist-Academic Audit, and Program Coordinator of Assessment for Lafayette Parish.  Most recently he has served as an Academic Officer for Lafayette Parish.

Sandra Billeaudeau will serve as District Planning Administrator. Ms. Billeaudeau earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University and a Master’s in Educational Programs from Northwestern State University. She attended the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia and earned a Louisiana Turnaround Specialist Certificate.

Ms. Billeaudeau’s experience as an educator spans almost 30 years. She began her teaching career in 1984 in Ascension Parish where she taught 4th grade, then she moved to Acadia Parish where she taught 7th and 8th grade.

Ms. Billeaudeau joined the Lafayette Parish School System in 1985, where she taught at Plantation Elementary for several years. She was then promoted to Assistant Principal at Judice Middle; she then served in the same capacity at Live Oak Elementary until 2006. At that time she was promoted to Principal at Alice Boucher Elementary and then served as Principal at NP Moss Annex until her promotion to Assistant Superintendent in 2012.

Robin Olivier has been appointed Director of Career and Technical Education and Schools of Choice. Ms. Olivier has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, Master in Education, and over 30 additional hours of graduate credit from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.  She has served as an Elementary teacher in St. Martin and Iberia Parishes.  She has served as the Educational Talent Search Counselor for UL Lafayette and as a school counselor for Breaux Bridge High School, Charter High School, and Carencro High School.   She has also served as an Adjunct Instructor for UL Lafayette.  Ms. Olivier spent two years at the Louisiana Board of Regents as the State Director of the Louisiana State Scholars Initiative.   In addition, Ms. Olivier’s experience includes serving in the role of the Associate Dean of Administration and Student Services for the Early College Academy and most recently as the Lafayette Parish Adult Education Specialist.

Kyle Bordelon will serve as Director of Planning and Facilities for the Lafayette Parish School System.  Mr. Bordelon has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction from Louisiana State University.  Mr. Bordelon has 29 years of experience that spans building construction, architecture and engineering construction administration, and planning and facilities management.  He has served with Lafayette Parish since 1996. Mr. Bordelon was serving as Acting Chief Operations Officer at the time of his appointment.
