LPSS Announces New Construction Project Director

In order to successfully manage the planned construction of several new schools and other facilities, LPSS has hired Joseph Brew as the new construction project director. In this role, Brew will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of new construction projects - specifically Lafayette High School, Carencro Heights Elementary School, and Prairie Elementary School - from initial planning through final occupancy.

“With so many new, major construction projects on the horizon, we felt it was important to hire someone who could provide professional leadership and oversight throughout the entire process,” said Superintendent Irma Trosclair. “Joseph Brew has a record of success managing construction activities for large school systems and we’re delighted to have him on our team.”

Brew is a seasoned construction professional with more than 25 years of experience in management and oversight of various building types, primarily for K-12 school systems in the greater Atlanta metro area. Most recently, he was the facility planning coordinator for Gwinnett County schools, the largest school district in Georgia, with 141 schools and support facilities serving 178,000 students. In this role, Brew managed the schedule and delivery of complete construction documents for bid, oversaw assigned projects during construction phase and warranty periods and hired engineering consultants.

Prior to his work in Gwinnett County, Brew was employed first as construction manager for Walton County and later DeKalb County school districts, both in the Atlanta metro area. In these roles he provided leadership and oversight for construction projects, maintained budgets and schedules and communicated regularly with community stakeholders. Brew also has experience working as an owner’s representative in his role as a project administrator with the Fulton County school system, where he was responsible for managing new construction, additions and renovation projects for a system with more than 90 buildings.

“I’m very excited for the opportunity to return to Louisiana and to help the Lafayette Parish Public School System continue on its path of growth and achievement,” said Brew.

Brew holds a bachelor of architecture from Southern University in Baton Rouge and resides in Breaux Bridge.
