LPSS has once again received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The district’s 2019-2020 report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and demonstrates highly effective accounting and business management by LPSS.
This year, LPSS has been further honored by its CAFR being selected by the Association of School Business Officials (ABSO) as one of only a few submissions (out of 563 total) to be shared on its website as a resource and example of how to prepare an effective financial report.
“We take great pride in maintaining high standards for financial reporting,” says LPSS Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Matt Dugas. “To receive a Certificate of Achievement is a great accomplishment, and then to also be one of the few entries selected out of the hundreds submitted to be an example for other school districts — it’s just a tremendous honor and a credit to our team’s hard work and supportive leadership.”
