Amanda N. Blanco has been selected as public information officer for the Lafayette Parish School System. Ms. Blanco joined the LPSS team in 2015, where she spent the first few years of her employment in the human resources department before promotion to the superintendent’s office. For the last five years, she has worked as an executive assistant alongside the district administrative team focusing on educational trends, strategic program implementation, communication strategies, and public policy.
Her key responsibilities include coordination of internal and external communication, school safety and crisis management planning, and media relations. “I am honored to join the team as the next public information officer. In my previous role, I developed a deep appreciation for the hard work being done in our schools every day, as well as the many wonderful things that happen throughout the district. I am excited for the opportunity to continue to share these stories with our community” said Blanco.
Superintendent Trosclair stated, “Amanda brings a unique perspective to her work, a quality that has made her a valuable asset to the team. She has a comprehensive understanding of district operations and is quick to recognize and take advantage of opportunities to improve communications. I am confident she will continue to excel in her new role within the Lafayette Parish School System.”
Ms. Blanco graduated with honors from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration. She resides in Lafayette with her husband and two children. In her spare time, Ms. Blanco enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with loved ones.
