LPSS Holds Future Teacher Signing

LHS Students with ULL Representatives

The Lafayette Parish School System is pleased to announce that Lafayette High School and the UL Lafayette College of Education held a signing event yesterday to celebrate LHS Educators Rising Seniors who are enrolling at UL for the fall of 2022. These four students were dedicated members of the Educators Rising Club at Lafayette High School who are committed to becoming future teachers. Four students were recognized, Faith Hebert, Elisabeth Meyer, John Paul, and Madilynne Jordan. These students were able to meet Dr. Nathan Roberts, Dean of the UL Lafayette College of Education and other UL Lafayette College of Education representatives as they signed on to their prestigious career choice.

This recognition would not be possible without Shari Holleman, a teacher at Lafayette High that spearheaded the creation of this club three years ago. “I am overwhelmed with the turnout and the investment that our community showed our graduates. They deserve the recognition and more. The more we celebrate and value our future teacher candidates, the more the Education Rising organization will grow and become an important part of the recruitment of education majors in the future.”

Superintendent Irma Trosclair spoke of her excitement of this event. “We are excited to celebrate these students for committing to becoming future teachers and for being the first class of future educators in LPSS to pilot this remarkable educator pipeline program. I look forward to the continued partnership with UL Lafayette and our community as we continue to develop aspiring educators.”

Congratulations to these students as they begin their educational journey in the fall to becoming future teachers.
