LPSS Logo

A Lafayette Middle School student was arrested today for making a verbal threat to the school’s campus. The student has been charged with terrorism, placed in the juvenile detention center, and faces expulsion from school.

The school’s campus was briefly placed on lockdown while school administration and law enforcement determined that a threat was not imminent and the campus returned to normal daily activities.

As previously stated, threats of any nature are taken with the highest degree of intention and seriousness. Please emphasize to students that the Lafayette Parish School System will accept no excuses for such actions and will hold every student choosing to behave in this manner accountable.
