Lafayette Parish School System is ecstatic to announce a historic achievement in the field of education. According to LEAP 2025 statewide assessments, Lafayette Parish School System ranks in the top 10 in the state with 41% of students scoring Mastery or above. Lafayette Parish has surpassed its pre-COVID level from 38% to 41%. Over the last two years, LPSS has had a cumulative growth of 3% in Mastery or above.

This marks the first time in the Lafayette Parish School System’s history that we have achieved such a prestigious milestone. This is a testament to the commitment and dedication of all stakeholders.

Interim Superintendent Francis Touchet expressed his delight and gratitude for the remarkable accomplishment. He stated, “Our team is appreciative of the hard work and dedication of all students, teachers, administrators, staff, board members, parents, and all community stakeholders with whom we share this great honor. We will always strive to put students first in every decision.”

Alongside this historic achievement, LPSS boasts other impressive statistics that demonstrate its commitment to educational excellence.

1. In comparison to region IV and V, LPSS ranks 2nd highest % Mastery Plus on LEAP 2025.

2. LPSS is the second largest district in the state to be recognized in the top 10 for students performing at mastery level or above.

Associate Superintendent Dr. Mark Rabalais adds, “These results further demonstrate the amazing potential and talents of our students and staff. The data shows LPSS outperformed most other school systems in the state. A truly remarkable achievement only made possible by the limitless dedication of schools, families, and community partnerships.”

The rankings were based on rigorous statewide assessments, including standardized tests and other performance evaluations. LPSS's impressive position in these rankings highlights the district's effectiveness in preparing students for future success and empowering them to reach their full potential.

Individual student results are available for parents to view on the LPSS Parent Portal. An interpretive guide to better understand the results can be found on the Louisiana Department of Education’s website.
