Lafayette Parish School System Completes Weapons Detection System Installation


In a significant stride towards bolstering campus security, the Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is pleased to announce the completion of its weapons detection system installation across all campuses. 

Last year, LPSS initiated a comprehensive safety enhancement initiative, culminating the recent deployment of state-of-the-art weapons detection systems on each campus. 

“My top priority is the safety of our students and staff, and I am pleased to say that each of our campuses are now equipped with weapons detection systems at each point of entry,” stated Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. 

At the start of the academic year all middle and high school campuses were equipped with CEIA OPENGATE weapons detection systems. In January, elementary schools were outfitted with the same weapons detection systems to ensure a comprehensive safety net across all grade levels. 

The weapons detection systems are used each day to screen students and visitors as they arrive on campus, as well as patrons attending after school activities and sporting events, solidifying LPSS’s commitment to creating secure learning environments.
