LPSS Announces Appointment of Carencro Middle School Principal

John Kris Leger

Following the retirement of current principal Renee Nunez, the Lafayette Parish School System is pleased to announce the appointment of John Kris Leger as the next leader of Carencro Middle School.

Leger's extensive background includes over 20 years in education, specializing in Health and Physical Education, bringing a wealth of expertise and passion to his new role. His dedication extended beyond the classroom as he coached football, basketball, and track for 19 years. Additionally, Leger has served in an administrative capacity for six years.

Prior to his appointment at Carencro Middle School, Leger served as Academic Behavior Coordinator and Vice Principal at Scott Middle School, where his leadership ushered in significant improvements in student achievement, teacher morale, and community engagement." Mr. Leger's arrival at Carencro Middle will undoubtedly be marked by a vibrant blend of enthusiasm, organizational prowess, passion, and a commitment to fostering strong community engagement," states Superintendent Francis Touchet.

Leger eagerly anticipates forging strong partnerships with parents, guardians, and the broader community to ensure the success of Carencro Middle School. "My mission is to create a safe, structured, supportive learning environment where all staff and students feel valued. As principal, I’m dedicated to leading our team to create a learning environment that brings inclusivity and fosters academic excellence, social-emotional growth, and character development through building relationships."
