Louisiana LEAP Test Results Showcase Significant Achievements of Students and Schools

LPSS Growth

The Lafayette Parish Public Schools System is applauding teachers and faculty for significant achievements of the students as they pertain to 2024 LEAP test scores released on Wednesday morning.

Remarkable highlights revealed by the Lafayette LEAP scores

  • The data from the Louisiana Department of Education shows that LPSS ranks #2 among the largest parishes (those serving 30K+ students) in the state for the percentage of students who achieved Mastery or above for all subjects and grade levels combined.
  • Lafayette’s Early College Academy continues to be a beacon of academic excellence, securing a prestigious position among the top 5 schools statewide for 95% of its students achieving mastery or above on the LEAP test.
  • Lafayette Parish student test scores largely outpaced the statewide scores for Mastery and Advanced in every grade.
  • The results reveal substantial growth in science proficiency among students in grades 3 through 8, as well as notable accomplishments at the high school level. This progress underscores the dedication of educators and the commitment of students to excel in STEM education.

"These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, teachers, and administrators in Lafayette Parish public schools," said Dr. Mark Rabalais, Associate Superintendent of the Lafayette Parish School System. "All of our schools have stayed committed to the academic growth of every child to meet the expectations of the state and, more importantly, the expectations of our parents and community. Thank you to all the hardworking educators who helped students experience the difference at LPSS."

Lafayette’s LEAP test results not only highlight academic growth but also underscore the district’s commitment to establishing an environment that is safe, offers opportunities for growth and engagement, and creates a culture that supports the social and mental health of students, faculty, and administrators.
