The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is proud to celebrate another year of exceptional progress, with its School Performance Scores (SPS) continuing to rise. LPSS is one of only four districts in Louisiana to achieve consistent growth every year since 2019. In 2024, the district earned a B, coming within just 2.5 index points of earning an "A" classification. With a clear focus on sustaining this momentum, LPSS is committed to reaching new heights of excellence.
Key Highlights from the 2024 SPS Results:
- #1 Large School System in Louisiana: LPSS has secured the top spot among large school systems in the state, serving more than 29,000 students. This distinction reflects the district's ongoing dedication to quality education.
- Top-Ranked Early College Academy: LPSS’s Early College Academy is ranked the #1 school in Louisiana, setting the standard for academic excellence.
- K-8 and High School Progress: LPSS ranks #1 in both Region IV & V and among all large districts in the state for its combined K-8 and High School Progress Index, showing the district’s success in advancing student achievement at every grade level.
- Strength of Diploma: The district also holds the #1 spot in Region IV & V and among all large districts for Strength of Diploma, demonstrating LPSS’s commitment to providing students with the skills and opportunities for success after high school.
- School Growth: Seventeen LPSS schools increased their SPS numerical score, showcasing a district-wide commitment to continuous improvement.
- Top Gains Honorees: Twenty-nine LPSS schools earned the Top Gains Honoree designation for achieving a progress index score above 90, highlighting the district’s focus on measurable student growth.
- Opportunity Honorees: Fourteen LPSS schools received the Opportunity Honoree designation for excelling in serving specific student subgroups, such as special education and English learners, and outperforming 90% of schools statewide.
