The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is proud to announce a strategic restructuring of its Special Education Department leadership, aimed at enhancing services and outcomes for the nearly 11% of LPSS students who receive special education support.
The district has implemented a two-pronged leadership model that divides oversight between compliance and instruction—an approach designed to better serve the diverse and growing needs of students with exceptionalities across Lafayette Parish.
Falin Key has been named Director of Special Education – Assessment & Compliance, bringing nearly two decades of experience to a role that will focus on evaluations, regulatory alignment, and strengthening Child Find efforts.
Devin Soeseno has been named Director of Special Education – Curriculum & Instruction, with over 20 years of experience supporting inclusive education, instructional leadership, and teacher development.
“This two-part leadership structure allows us to meet the unique needs of our students more effectively and with greater intention,” said Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “LPSS serves students in ways not offered by any other schools in Lafayette Parish. Our responsibility is to provide every child who walks through our doors with access to growth, opportunity, and the support they need to thrive. These appointments reflect our deep commitment to that mission.”
With this innovative structure, LPSS is reinforcing its dedication to providing high-quality special education services, ensuring that all students—regardless of ability—are fully supported throughout their educational journey.
