Lafayette Parish is being recognized among the top-performing school systems in Louisiana. According to the Louisiana Department of Education, LPSS ranks in the Top 10 districts statewide for Grade 3–8 Math Mastery on the most recent LEAP assessment.
This distinction reflects the strong academic progress taking place in Lafayette Parish schools. Forty-four percent of LPSS students in grades 3–8 achieved Mastery or Advanced levels in math—placing the district alongside some of the highest-performing school systems in the state. The data highlights not only academic achievement, but also the consistent growth taking place across campuses.
This accomplishment is the result of the hard work of students, the dedication and expertise of teachers, and the continued support of families. It also underscores a statewide effort to strengthen math instruction and ensure every child develops strong problem-solving and reasoning skills.
“Our students are showing what they can do when they are challenged, supported, and believed in,” said Superintendent Francis Touchet, Jr. “This recognition affirms that our teachers and school leaders are creating classrooms where students are growing every day. We are proud of this work and committed to continuing that growth across Lafayette Parish.”
