Opportunity Realized: Six LPSS Students Named National Merit Finalists

National Merit Winners

The Lafayette Parish School System is proud to recognize six students who have earned the distinction of National Merit Finalist, one of the most prestigious academic honors in the nation.

Selected from more than 1.3 million students nationwide, only about 15,000 seniors achieve Finalist status. This recognition places these students among the top academic performers in the country and qualifies them for highly competitive scholarships offered by universities and national organizations.

This year’s finalists represent excellence across multiple LPSS schools:

From Lafayette High School: Sophie, Roan, and Ishan

From Comeaux High School: Kenzy

From David Thibodaux STEM Magnet Academy: Caleb

From Early College Academy: Sophia

Their achievement reflects a commitment to academic excellence, strong support from educators and families, and a district-wide focus on providing meaningful opportunities for student success.

Lafayette Parish School System celebrates these students for their dedication and looks forward to the continued impact they will make in their future pursuits.
