Lafayette Parish School System students have once again demonstrated their ability to perform at the highest level, earning the title of State Elementary Fitness Meet Champions for the second time in the last three years.
The annual competition brings together top elementary student-athletes from across Louisiana, providing a platform to showcase strength, endurance, and overall athletic development. LPSS students not only competed, but delivered results that placed them among the best in the state.
Competition Highlights:
- 2nd place in the 50-yard sprint
- 2nd place in pull-ups
- 3rd place in the standing long jump
- 2nd and 3rd place finishes in overall girls standings
Students representing Martial F. Billeaud Elementary, Green T. Lindon Elementary School, Charles M. Burke Elementary, and J. W. James Elementary School contributed to the overall team success.
These results reflect more than competitive achievement. They highlight the opportunities provided to LPSS students through strong physical education programs, dedicated coaching, and access to meaningful extracurricular experiences. From foundational skill development to high-level competition, students are given the resources and support needed to grow and succeed.
The State Elementary Fitness Meet serves as an extension of the district’s commitment to student development, reinforcing the importance of physical wellness, discipline, and goal setting at an early age.
LPSS congratulates its student-athletes, coaches, and participating schools for representing the district with excellence and for continuing to build on a tradition of success.
