Summer Reading

AP English Language & Composition

Students in Advanced Placement English III (English Language and Composition) will spend the year learning effective methods of argumentative writing. Analysis will begin with summer reading.

Your summer reading assignment is to read Malcolm Gladwell's book Outliers. (Click the link to purchase on Amazon or check out the book at your local library. You might also consider borrowing this book from a former student.)

In order to receive summer reading credit, you must prove that you read the book by keeping a dialectical journal. Instructions are posted below on how to keep this journal. The amount of points you receive on this assignment will depend on how extensive and analytical your journal is. Journals are due the first day of class. You will also need the book for assignments during the first few weeks of school. THE JOURNAL MUST BE HANDWRITTEN TO RECEIVE POINTS.
