Assignment for Regular Students: Though summer reading is not required for regular students, it is highly recommended. Students can receive extra credit for turning in dialectal journals on books from the Honors reading list. Students must follow the directions provided and turn in their journals the first day of school to receive credit.
Assignment for all Honors Students: Choose one book to read and keep a comprehensive dialectical journal to be turned in on the first day of school. The idea is to prove you read the book as opposed to watching the movie or reading summaries. Write as much as you think you need to prove you read. You may also be asked to take a test or complete a project on the book the first week of school. It is strongly recommended that you bring a copy of the book to class that first week. You may turn in a dialectical journal on a second book for extra credit. Amount of credit received depends on depth of journal discussion and teacher discretion.
*Please be aware that Ms. Allen's directions for the dialectical journals are not the same as previous years. Please be sure to utilize my document or you may earn a zero for the assignment.
