The Consul General of Belgium Visits Carencro High School

News Release

The Consul General of Belgium stationed in Atlanta, GA., Michel Gerebtzoff, recently visited Carencro High School as part of a promotional tour and was greeted with a warm welcome from the student body. The band played the Belgian National Anthem, followed by a performance by the school’s dance team, who choreographed a dance using a song by a famous Belgian artist as students taking French I and II sang along.

Counsel General Gerebtzoff stated that he chose Carencro High School for its richness of diversity and culture and this was one of the best welcomes he has ever received. After formally introducing himself, the Counsel General immediately opened the floor for Q&A. In anticipation of Mr. Gerebtzoff's arrival, students asked informed yet prepared questions en francais, to which he responded in English. Questions ranged from "What does it mean to be a Belgium ambassador in the States and around the world?” "What kind of music do you like?” and “What does the Consul General do for fun?” The exchange between students and Mr. Gerebtzoff was equally enjoyable and insightful.

At the conclusion of an eventful morning, student representatives and the school’s administration presented Counsel General Gerebtzoff with a special gift to commemorate his visit to the school. Students brought in local recipes that were arranged in a cookbook for the Consul General, which was then illustrated and signed by the students and presented to Mr. Gerebtzoff along with a basket full of cajun goodies.

Merci beaucoup Monsieur Gerebtzoff pour la visite!
