Reflecting on Fall Fest: A Celebration of Community, Culture, and Safety

Reflecting on Fall Fest

As winter settles in, we take a moment to look back on one of the highlights of the fall season—Fall Fest at L. Leo Judice Elementary. This beloved tradition once again brought together students, families, and community leaders for a day of fun, food, and fellowship, all while reinforcing the school’s core values of safety and culture.

The festival was filled with classic activities that captured the heart of Scott’s community spirit. Families and students enjoyed the cake walk, football toss, and pumpkin pull, while savoring delicious local flavors—including Mayor Jan-Scott Richard’s signature jambalaya, a dish that embodies the area’s rich culinary heritage. These shared experiences strengthened connections among attendees, fostering a sense of pride and belonging.

Beyond the fun, Fall Fest also served as an opportunity to promote safety and trust within the school community. One of the most anticipated moments of the event was “Lunch with the Chief,” a special experience offered through the silent auction. This unique opportunity allowed four winning students to share a meal with Scott Police Chief Chad Leger, an L. Leo Judice alumnus, at Cajan’s—just steps away from the school.

“This is about more than just a lunch—it’s about building relationships,” said Chief Leger. “When we create positive connections early, we help students feel safe, supported, and valued. One student has participated four years in a row, and she’s already looking forward to next year. That’s the kind of lasting impact we want to make.”

As we reflect on Fall Fest, we celebrate more than just a fun-filled day. It was a reminder of the strong connections between our school, our families, and our community. Students walked away with prizes and memories, but more importantly, they left knowing they are part of a community that looks out for them, supports them, and celebrates them.

Though fall has passed and winter is here, the spirit of Fall Fest lives on, and we look forward to creating more special moments together in the years to come.
