Growth Realized: The New Mighty Lions Den
When Lafayette High School students arrive for the 2025–26 school year, they won’t just be starting a new academic year, they’ll be stepping into history. For the first time, students will walk through the doors of a brand-new campus purposefully built to support learning, community, and growth.
The journey began more than four years ago when the Lafayette Parish School Board approved the vision and architects at AQ Studios began the creative process. Today, that vision stands as a stunning, 330,000-square-foot, three-story facility, more than twice the size of the Lafayette Costco and designed to accommodate up to 2,300 students.
Driving Opportunity: Big Prizes, Bigger Impact
Love Our Schools has launched its 4th Annual Giveaway, giving supporters the chance to win big while giving back to Lafayette Parish public schools. With two brand-new vehicles and a slate of exciting early bird prizes up for grabs, the raffle has become a popular tradition—and a meaningful way to invest in the future of local students.
This year’s grand prizes include a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2025 Nissan Rogue, both generously donated by Giles Nissan. Tickets are $50 each, and every dollar in proceeds goes directly toward enhancing Lafayette Parish public schools—supporting students, teachers, and classrooms across the district.
Cultivating Culture: How the Arts Shape Student Success
There is a quiet revolution underway in Lafayette Parish classrooms. Not a shift away from academic growth, but a deeper investment in how imagination drives it. Students who once sat silent now dance the orbit of the solar system. Struggling readers paint the Louisiana wetlands before they write about them. A child who rarely speaks to her peers stands and delivers a freestyle poem with the confidence of a headliner.
This shift isn’t abstract. It is being lived and led through a partnership between the Lafayette Parish School System and the Acadiana Center for the Arts. Together, they are not simply adding arts into classrooms. They are transforming the very definition of what an engaging classroom can be.
Safety Driven: LPSS Rolls Out New Transportation Technology
The Lafayette Parish School System (LPSS) is taking a major step forward in student safety—one of its core values—with the rollout of a new student transportation system during the 2025–2026 school year. Designed to give families greater peace of mind, the system will provide real-time monitoring of student ridership and help the district operate one of Louisiana’s largest school transportation fleets more efficiently.
With over 230 buses and 1,000 routes, LPSS is utilizing a platform created by Tyler Technologies, a nationally recognized provider of school transportation software. The new system will verify when students get on and off the bus—but only while they are on board—allowing transportation staff and school administrators to monitor ridership safely and accurately.
