Student Services

The Department of Student Services is committed to the education and well being of all students. Every student deserves fair and equitable opportunities to learn in a caring, safe environment. The goal of this department is to provide support to students, families and school faculties to ensure student success where diversity is respected and high expectations exist for all.

School Counseling Program

Lafayette Parish School Counselors continue to define new directions for their profession as they align their programs with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. “This model outlines the components of a school counseling program that is integral to the school’s academic mission and is created to have a significant positive impact on student achievement, attendance and discipline.” ASCA National Model, Fourth Edition.

Direct Student Services

These are in-person interactions between school counselors and students. Direct Student Services include, class lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, and crisis counseling.

Indirect Student Services

These are services provided on behalf of students as a result of the school counselor’s interactions with others. Indirect Student Services include, collaboration, consultation and referrals to promote equity and access for all students.
